Title number, as the data uses it
Every registered freehold and leasehold estate in England and Wales has a title number, and the register entry against it names the proprietor, the price paid where recorded and the charges. A property can have more than one title (a freehold and several leaseholds), and a title can cover more than one property (a block, an estate).
MarketCode's ownership tools take a title number and return the registered proprietor from the bulk ownership registers, which cover titles held by companies, public bodies and overseas entities. Titles held by individuals are not in the bulk data and come back unresolved; that is a gap in the free register, not a failed lookup.
