Price Paid Data, as the data uses it
Price Paid Data is the public record of what properties actually sold for. It is published monthly under the Open Government Licence and covers England and Wales from 1995. Each row carries the price, the completion date, the address, the property type, the tenure, whether the property was new, and a category: A for a standard sale, B for a transfer under a power of sale, a right-to-buy or a sale at less than market value.
MarketCode loads the monthly change file as additions, changes and deletions, so a corrected registration updates the row. Sales are matched to UPRNs where the address allows and kept for area statistics where it does not. Medians and indices use category A only; a median that includes repossessions is not a market median.
The one thing to know before reading a recent month: registration lags completion by weeks to months, so the trailing months are incomplete and will rise. Every volume series says where the provisional period starts.
