Person with significant control, as the data uses it
Since 2016 every UK company must register the people who ultimately own or control it: more than 25% of the shares or votes, the right to appoint the board, or significant influence. Companies House publishes the register.
When a title's proprietor is a company, MarketCode's owner profile joins the company number to Companies House and returns its status, directors and PSCs where known, so a portfolio held through a special-purpose vehicle can be traced to whoever stands behind it. A PSC is a statement the company made, not a verified fact, and a dissolved company still shows the PSCs it last filed.
