Market and listings
Days on market
How long a listing has been marketed; MarketCode reports the age of live stock and the days to completion on matched sales, and is explicit that a true days-to-sale is not observable from portals.
Also called: time on market, days listed, listing age.
Definition
Days on market, as the data uses it
Portals record when a listing appears but not when it leaves, so a classic days-on-market to sale cannot be reconstructed from them. MarketCode therefore reports two honest substitutes. The daily stock series carries the median age of the live stock that has a date. The listing statistics carry days to completion on listings the registry matched to a sale, which is listing date to completion date and includes the conveyancing period.
The market cube has a days_on_market column that is not populated; it is named as empty in every response so nobody ranks on it.
