Model Context Protocol (MCP)

Definition
Model Context Protocol, as the data uses it
MCP is the standard by which an assistant learns what a server can do (a list of tools with names, descriptions and argument schemas) and calls them. MarketCode's server at mcp.marketcode.ai lists 57 tools, one for each REST operation, at the same price, and the assistant reads each tool's description to decide when to use it. Those descriptions are the same text the tool pages on this site render.
Sign-in is OAuth: the user connects once with their MarketCode account and every call is read-only and metered against one credit balance. There is no API key to paste, which is also why ChatGPT can use it: ChatGPT accepts no keys or custom headers for MCP servers. The connect steps for each client are on the MCP page.
